Stupid people in America

by Mar Matthias Darin

I am absolutely dumb struck at how stupid the American people have become. One would think (I would hope) the when they are behind the steering wheel of a motor vehicle that doing anything that would distract them would be dangerous. This is just common sense, right?

Why is it, then, that we need laws to tell people not to text and drive or use their cell phone while driving? Have we, as a society and a nation, become so pathetically brainwashed that we can no long think for ourselves?

Something is serious wrong when we need a law to tell people that flapping their lips or sending naked pictures over a cell phone or texting whoever is dangerous and wrong. If people are that stupid that they can't figure this out on their own without a bunch of nanny state laws, then obviously they're too stupid to own a car and have a license to drive it.

A little bit of common sense really does go a long way.

Who could disagree with your post? People ARE nuts. Why is it they just don't understand that when you have the wheel in your hands you cannot text, make phone calls, read a map, put on make-up, file your nails or this one, shaving you face with an electric razor as I saw one man do this morning?

What they need is a wake up call in the form of heading for a light pole, a road hazard or a brick wall in order to shake them loose. I'm just afraid one of these idiots will head for ME instead.

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

I hear ya... One day I was going down the side of the street and some idiot was plucking his eyebrows... Thank GOD he missed me. You just about have to wear body armor just to walk on the blooming sidewalk.

Boy I wish this post could go on national news or something. Man, you are so right!!

People just cannot think for themselves anymore, this is the due to the magnificent success of the public school system and the expunging of the knowledge of God from our society.

Oh, but people SURE can FEEL for themselves! They "feel" disrespected, they "feel" offended, etc etc ad nauseum....

Our country is in serious need of a revival, or a spanking.

Revive common sense then spank the stupidity out of them... Sounds good to me.

You are correct but how are we going to get this message to our adolescents today? Are they just tuning out their parents and elders?

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

If it was just the adolescents, it would be easier to address the issue, but I have seen people old enough to know better.

Oh funny you write about this as the other day I was driving down a country 2 lane highway and what do I see coming at me but a "boat" sized car, with an adult male driving and no one else in the car.

Both hands are on the wheel but the dumb ass is texting while driving this really big car. Man that was friggin' scary. Good news is though I was driving an even bigger truck *wink* and no one else was on the road but us.

Would not have been pretty for him......

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

That is one very stupid person. Just think how much safer the roads would be with out all these idiots behind the steering wheel of a motor vehicle.

Comments from Sandboxgems 70.177.173.178

So true! I just blogged about this in a recent post. Well, about road rage and types of drivers out there. I never cease to be amazed at what I see out there on the roads some days. The texting has got to stop while driving!

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

Ain't that the truth! Its pretty sad when you think about going and buying an old tank to drive down the street in. I have become an advovate for once a year driving tests because of some of the things I have seen drivers do.

Comments from cher 98.111.221.12

Common sense left our society years ago. I am not certain how or why but stupid people do text and drive. The law, I think, is for the greater good of more intelligent, responsible people.

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

Stupidity is pandemic, intellegence is an endangered species.

Comments from Molly 68.117.38.38

I so agree with you about teens and adults driving and phoning, you can always tell when a person is distracted with some device, they cross the lines, speed up, slow down, it's scary to be on the road with them, we were at a stop sign and here comes a work van behind us and not slowing down. He (on the phone) stopped just in time so we were lucky, let's try and get through to these people.

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

Maybe its time to start revoking the priledge to drive permanently on the first occurance... That would certainly send a message.

Comments from BLOGitse 196.221.131.181

And guess what - similar is happening in Europe too! I don't understand WHY do we need a law for every detail even if we are the most educated, civilized generation? Protection? from what?

Greetings from BC Real Bloggers group and Cairo! Have a nice weekend!

Comments from Mar Matthias Darin

I guess all the book sense destroys common sense. Seems like the smarter people are getting, the dumber they behave.
