``SEC. 749A. TEACHING HEALTH CENTERS DEVELOPMENT

GRANTS.

``(a) P
ROGRAM
A
UTHORIZED
.--The Secretary may
5
award grants under this section to teaching health centers
6
for the purpose of establishing new accredited or expanded
7
primary care residency programs.
8
``(b) A
MOUNT AND
D
URATION
.--Grants awarded under
9
this section shall be for a term of not more than 3 years
10
and the maximum award may not be more than $500,000.
11
``(c) U
SE OF
F
UNDS
.--Amounts provided under a
12
grant under this section shall be used to cover the costs of--
13
``(1) establishing or expanding a primary care
14
residency training program described in subsection
15
(a), including costs associated with--
16
``(A) curriculum development;
17
``(B) recruitment, training and retention of
18
residents and faculty:
19
``(C) accreditation by the Accreditation
20
Council for Graduate Medical Education
21
(ACGME), the American Dental Association
22
(ADA), or the American Osteopathic Association
23
(AOA); and
