EntreCard, no-more, forever more by Mar Matthias Darin EntreCard is bringing back the paid ads with the option to opt-out - for the price of fifty dollars ($50). What, I have to PAY to not have ads I can not screen on MY blog??? I don't frakking think so! Plus, EntreCard now has a referral program... To me, EntreCard has just become another manual click exchange. The traffic from manual click exchanges is usually very poor. On EntreCard, its the drop-n-run crowd and it wrecks the bounce rate. I gave EntreCard a chance under the new owners... Now I can see what the future is for EntreCard and I am NOT going to allow my blog to be drug through the mud pit of Google's hell for scraps of poor quality traffic. Remember, Google back slaps all incentive based traffic exchanges. The sad part about this is there were and are many good blogs in EntreCard and I have had the opportunity to meet many good people. I have a list of everyone in EntreCard that has dropped on me and will be visiting these sites. Personally, its EntreCard's loss and I'll just have more time to spend working on "Along for the Ride!" I do wish to thank the many good people in EntreCard that I have had the pleasure to meet. As for EntreCard, I do not sway on my decisions and I will not be going back. At the end of the run on this post, in about three to five days, the EntreCard widget will be no-more, forever more. My space I will not waste, and my decision is not made with haste... I'm reading posts like this more and more in the last week. It's a shame, really, because I did enjoy going around and finding and reading some great blogs and getting some traffic. All of the changes are just getting to be too much! Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I know there are many blog owners making the same agonizzing decisions... Comments from *lynne* 99.37.48.202 Hear, hear! Yup, last night I logged out of EntreCard for the last time after deleting the widget from my blog & sending admin a "pls delete account" message. Good Riddance! Comments from Mar Matthias Darin Ain't that the truth! Comments from Blog Tactic 115.132.229.111 I actually have another blog without EC and it still have good traffic volume purely from Google search. richie at blogtactic Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I actually do pretty good now, but I don't rely on Google alone. Comments from BURAOT 75.92.196.40 true. i can't wait to see and join your "along for the ride". Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I look forward to seeing your sign up information so I can it you into the AFTR rotation. Comments from Len 68.94.10.221 Dang! I dropped my card on you before I read your whine about EC. Can I have my drop back? When people say they're going to leave, why don't they just leave? Comments from Mar Matthias Darin You still received credit for your drop. And as for just leaving, many people have the decency to let their readership know whats going on. Its part of being a well established blog. Comments from Mizé 82.155.97.107 If it wasnīt for Entrecard, I would have never found your blog (I think) but paying to opt out of paid ads is ridiculous. My best blog is in Portuguese and Iīve reached 500 daily visitors without EC. I still use them for my "english business" because of my Alexa rank. I agree you have the right to opt out EC anytime you like and I will sure keep visiting you no matter what. My Best Regards, Mizé Comments from Mar Matthias Darin Rest assurd, I will conmtinue visiting yours as well. Prehaps the saddest part is that I have met many good people through EntreCard I wouldn't have had the opportunity to otherwise. The way EntreCard is going though, I wouldn't expect that as I personnly believe their current direction will lead to a downgrade in the quality of blogs and it members. Comments from Auntie E 74.107.71.38 I am not happy with the decision to start the Sponsor ads, so the New Name for the old ads. I still have not figured out how that will effect the purchased EC widget time on each blog, will i still get 24 hours? somehow I do not think so and the cost, hard work time remains the same.it's like going up on the price of the advertisement on every EC user. I thought I would move my Widget to closer to the bottom until I see how this will effect my Blogs. I really have enjoyed the blogs I have found through Entrecard. But recently I have found CMF and Exploring their users. I do have your Alone for the ride widget on a couple of my blogs. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin Under the 15% "sponsored ads", you'll get 20.4 hours. 4,096 ECs is a bit much when you have to share the space with a paid ad. Plus, I'm willing to bet that thw prime times are going to have a higher percentage of paid ads, while the low times will be the EC ads. I've seen CMF, maybe I'll look into it more. Along for thr Rode! has actually done pretty good, so I may just stay withthat for a while.... Comments from CuteBoo 188.96.75.24 I think, itīs the best what we can do, you know I do the same..and yes, no more clicking and reading blogs which donīt get back to you. We can save the time for our family! There are so many ways to promoto your blog! All the best for you! Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I like reading the various blogs. I have gotten a lot of ideas and met many interesting and nice people through EntreCard. Unfortunately, I've seen the winds change and the visitor value of EntreCard drop, excluding my dedicated and valued readers. Comments from Blazing Minds 86.141.154.86 I'm currently 50/50 at the amount on whether to stay or go, but with the news of the $50 price tag for removing ads, I'm moving over to leaving more than staying! Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I spent five months debating whether I should say or go. For me, the $50 fee was the last straw,,, Comments from Eli @ Business Sphere 112.200.212.130 Mar, oh I came in late to comment. You know your great blog was one of my favorites in Entrecard and it's on my drop list, and you knew that I dropped on your site daily. I was looking at your blog to drop until I couldn't find it anymore. That's the time I searched your blog in Google and I came here just now. I won't miss your blog because I'll continue to visit it daily, starting today, now that I've realized it's no longer on my EC favorites blogs. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin Thank you. Comments from Doug 174.19.2.86 I think, if you left EntreCard because of paid ads, it is a very short-sighted and incorrect decision. Advertising pays for virtually ALL the "free" stuff that we internet users have come to enjoy. EntreCard erred by not including paid ads right from the beginning. A business plan that does not bring revenue greater than expenses is a losing proposition. This is the first time I have come across your site in over a week. There is no EntreCard; there is no Adgitize. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I didn't leave because of the paid ads, I left because of the paid ads I can NOT moderate. As I have said many times, the issues is the ability of moderating ads that are appropriate to MY blog. The second issue is the price of advertising with ECs. 4096 ECs is too expensive for 85% display time. I've had the experience of an advertiser saying, "trust us", and wound up with a heap load of headache when adult x-rated content was displayed... After that, I moderate everything when it comes to advertising.
