Along for the Ride! policy update by Mar Matthias Darin As "Along For The Ride!" continues to grow, new and interesting issues surface that need to be addressed. The issue that was addressed over the last couple of days was the 99% safe rule. In the AFTR rules, I have the rule: Relatively family safe. Relatively best describes blogs like mine that are 99% safe with the 1% not safe (but with warnings if needed). Simple and straight forward... until little Johnny or little Susie sees the page before mommy or daddy can intervene. I've spent the last two days working of a way to prevent this from happening. The method I've chosen is to rank AFTR member sites into two classes. The class descriptions are as follows:
The word list I use errs on on the side of caution and it is not perfect. But it does try to limit exposure to minors of content that may be subjectively offensive to a parent of a small child. Class ranking is re-evaluated each time my robot checks for the AFTR widget. Visitors of Class 1 sites will be shown only other class 1 sites. Class 2 sites will be shown all sites. Feel free to share your thoughts on this. Top tags: sites, class, aftr, safe, issues, addressed, along, area, bang, chitty Comments from Mrs. Mecomber 71.182.111.239 I think this is a GREAT idea. My kids read my blogs, and I do not want to post any content that they and their peers cannot read. Plus, I much prefer to keep the AFTR community 100% clean. It's a development I look forward to. I also note that I have to get around to adding another one of my blogs to the group! :S I hope to do this soon. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin All the blogs in AFTR are clean... but still the content of some blogs may not be suitable (by the parent) even with a parental warning. The class system is in operation now. All member sites have a class assigned to them and it is displayed on the AFTR members page.
