EntreCard introduces paid advertising

By Mar Matthias Darin

EntreCard has made changes to their advertising system. They have introduced Paid Advertising. The idea sounded good at first... I ran a few ads to see how well this new system would work out and did some reading about it.

Basically, an advertiser pays EntreCard money to run ads on my blog. Sounds nice. A few bucks a month to go in my one hundred and forty dollar ISP bill and the five grand in debt I have for keeping my hungry beast i call a server online sounds sweet.

I have no problems with advertising as long as I get something out of the deal. I use it to get a few bucks here and there to feed my beast. But it doesn't seem right for EC users to bust their backsides droppong to get credits for ads just to share the same ad space with paid advertisers... I'll be the first to admit that I'm a greedy maggot when it comes to business, but I'm not that greedy. I do have ethical standards in business.

So, I've decided NOT to allow any paid advertising at this time.

I wonder how many other EntreCard users out there are thinking in the same direction I am...

Let me know what you think.

I am not sure how I feel about the paid advertising yet. Prior to the launch of the paid ads, I was debating the overall merits of the whole EC system. Sure it brought traffic to my site, but for the most part it was just drop and run. There were a handful of folks that stopped and commented. I guess I am waiting to see how the option of turning credits in for cash works out. Perhaps it will be worth my while if I can get a decent return on the credits I have built up.

Matthais, Your new picture looks great.

dickster1961: If they split the EC user ads and the paid advertising, then it be a good deal for me.

carol: Thank you. My better half has been after me for awhile to change it....
