Chapter Three It is a habit of God (especially in His dealings with Israel) to send on a straying nation disasters that are designed to drive that nation back to Him. I call these natural disasters, but they may also include small wars. I believe that this has been happening (and will happen with more ferocity) to America. In part because God will do these things to any nation to some extent. In more certainty because America was raised up and has been treated very much like Israel, insomuch that some religions believe that America is God's replacement for a fallen Israel. I do not hold with these ideas but mention it to point out that there is more than enough evidence of God dealing with America. Look again at those words of Ben Franklin: I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: 'that God governs in the affairs of man.' And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We could turn those words around and say: can a great nation be sustained without His aid? I therefore expect that the start of the next century will hold for America many more natural disasters, and maybe some small wars in which we will not fair so well as we did in "Desert Storm." That is that natural disasters will increase in frequency and ferocity. I also believe that because political leaders and especially leaders of science do not want to recognize God's sovereignty these happening will be explained away as being the result of mankind's cruel treatment of the environment or mother earth. Global warming did it! Now once more look at these words: Lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (From the Bible: Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy, chapter 3, verses 1-4) That passage of scripture pretty well sums up why I put number four in my list. "The next century will be one of the most dangerous times to live in, natural disasters not withstanding." And it also gives all the reasons! This also will be a disaster but of America's own making. It is America's dealings with the thoughts, desires, and writings of the founders, and with the Constitution that has and will bring this about. Few would dare to say, and fewer would believe that life in America is as good and as safe as it has been in the past. A study done at the start of this decade had this to report: Sense 1960 the population has gone up 41%. The
GDP has tripled. Total social spending measured in 1990 dollars went
from 142 billion to 787 billion, (a five-fold increase).
In that same 30 years there has been a 560% increase in violent crime. A 400% increase in illegitimate births. The divorce rate has quadrupled and there has been a tripling of the number of children living in single parent homes. There has also been a 200% increase in the number of teenage suicides and a 75-point drop in the SAT scores of high school students. Today 30% of all births and 60% of all black births are illegitimate. America stands at or near the top of the industrialized world in murder, rape, and violent crime. There have been a few government studies released that seem to show a drop in certain areas of crime, but none show or even try to show that we are any where near returning to crime rates, or morals known before America removed God from government. Social scientist tell us that returning is impossible. I tend to agree. For more than 30 years we have been teaching in our schools that there is no true God. Teaching that there are no firm morals, and no absolute truth. In fact that last has been taught for near onto one hundred years. Note the writings of Francis A. Schaffer. With this kind of foundation the present temporary dip in the rates of violent crime brought about by the building of new prisons and increased police protection, and stricter sentencing cannot hold. That is speaking of violent crime. Did you note certain words in the scripture passage I used earlier? Truce breakers, false accusers, and traitors, are all mentioned. These are crimes of the rich or political. These are crimes that give away national secrets, weaken national defense, place poorer innocent folks into jail houses, take homes away from good folks, put farmers into the poor house, spend tax dollars foolishly, and put smaller business competitors out of business. Do you think that all this is happening now? You haven't seen anything yet! As generation X starts taking over and the "Baby Boomers" move into old age the real trouble will start, and perilous will be just the word to use, dangerous times! Want to use your Kindle 2?
