The United States, the NEW Roman Empire

by Mar Matthias Darin

Both the Democrat and the Republican parties have been a huge disappointment lately. Its pretty disparaging when the President of the United States is more concerned about a talk radio entertainer then being a leader in a time of economic turmoil and the national deficit is likely going to be three trillion dollars or more by 2012. On the other side of the fence, equally as disparaging is the lack of leadership, back biting, and loss of direction.

What ever happened to serving the people? When was the last time either political party actually really served the people? I believe the elected officials have been in office so long that they have forgotten what it means to be an average citizen, a Joe Nobody. Both the Democrats and the Republicans have lost touch with reality, and worse, they lost touch with responsibility.

Both sides make it sound like they've made great sacrifices to their quality of living by giving up their cost of living increase. Yet they still retain their tax payer funded, no credit limit, credit cards and they've voted for themselves a ninety thousand dollar increase in their travel expenses. Where's the sacrifice? Where's the enduring hardship they are suffering?

The Republicans are no better. For a group thats supposed to be fiscally responsible, they've been anything but. During the presidential election, there was more back stabbing and sabotage them the sauciest, steamiest soap opera ever made. The Republicans couldn't even agree, and still can't, on what they even represent anymore. They've lost all direction and focus and they've become as much addicted to spending as the Democrats.

Unlike either political party, we pay for our gas, airline tickets, and everything else. Why should WE have to pay for theirs as well? For the last two years, Pelosi has been treating the Air Force like her private plaything, and the Democrat party has had more excuses for dodging taxes then I have hair on my entire body. If one of us Joe Nobody's dodged our taxes, we'd pay hell with fines and interest, yet, the Internal Revenue Service is quick to forgive them. Didn't Vice President Biden say it was patriotic to pay taxes? If its so patriotic, why have the Democrats spent so much time dodging them?

Now I'm going forecast the future. I'm going to describe what I think the future of the United States will look like if things keep going as they are and I'm going to do it using history. Sound impossible? You'll have second thoughts after reading the rest of this article.

Lets look at the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire lasted from 753 BC to 1461 AD (Source). This time line shows the fall of the Roman Empire as being conquered. What we are interested in is the political structure of the Roman Empire. Here is where we'll see the future of the United States. The Roman Empire began its fall in 476 AD (Source).

What lead to the success of Rome? Rome's success was actually its constant entanglement in wars. When Rome entered its "Age of Peace", if you can call it that, is when things begin to crumble. Prior to 476 AD, the Roman politicians were the first to the battle field. As such, there was a high turn over in the Roman Senate. This high turn over is where I believe Rome had its greatest successes. Fresh thinking and new ideas were always coming into the Roman political process.

Sometime around 476 AD, the Roman politicians stopped going into battle and remained life long politicians. Now we'll see the parallels between the Roman Empire and the United States and why I believe this holds the key to the future of this country.

When this transition took place from warrior to politician is when Rome lost its edge. Politicians entered office and then died in office. This is pretty much where the United States politicians are now. No new ideas and thinking became tired and outdated. In essence, the Roman political structure begin to crumble under stagnation. I believe our political structure is also stagnating and crumbling.

The Roman politicians began demanding better living and requiring higher expenses. They wanted the same lavish and opulent life style as the Emperor. As a result, each new generation had to out do the last in the opulence of their lifestyle. Their greed literally drove Rome broke. Our own politicians are doing the very same thing today that Roman politicians did two thousand years ago. The greed of our politicians for lavishness and opulent lifestyles is bankrupting the United States.

Hence, this is why I believe that if we continue on the same course we, as a nation, are on, we too will be as bankrupt and broke as Rome was before its demise in 1461 AD. Rome excelled when there were limits on the number of years a politician served in the Senate, albeit war. Its only when the politicians began to serve for life that Rome started crumbling.

I believe the lesson here is clear, we need to have term limits on all of our politicians in order for the United States to survive.

I think America owes more to Rome than most people realise. Ad certainly the end of Rome also provides a parrarel.

The Seve Hills of Rome are embodied in the Hill you have in your Congress. Even the architecture is the same.

If you really look closely, even the actions of this superpower echo Rome's own actions when it was the undisputed master of the known world.

It is an extremely interesting subject

I think that many will miss the point here. We are headed for another Roman Empire as prophesied by Daniel in the Bible and revealed in Revelation as well. This world is coming full circle very quickly. This New Word order that everyone is so hyped up over will spell the doom for mankind. Open your eyes folks we are headed for another Roman Empire where the world will be ruled by a "Caesar" who will show no mercy to those who do not fall in line with him.

The USA is NOT the Roman Empire. The countries that represent the old are found in Europe. I believe that the Lisbon Treaty countries is what makes up the revived Roman Empire.
