Stimulus, Omnibus, and related thoughts by Mar Matthias Darin I've given the current economic crises a lot a thought before writing this post... My better half and I sat down over two and a half years ago and developed a long term budget strategy fully knowing the economy was going to go through a down turn. I don't think anyone could have predicted the extent of the economic crises, but it was obvious two and a half years ago that people needed to tighten their budgets... so why didn't they? Why didn't the vast number of Americans plan for this and budget accordingly? There was no magic dust or secret recipe my better half and I used. We just looked at the common market factors: the average price of municipal utilities, gas, oil, food, and so on. All of which have been on the rise. This really was very simple, we knew we wouldn't have enough income to sustain spending. There's nothing hard about that and you don't need a PhD to figure it out. The same basic principle applies at the government level, no money means no spending. How much easier can that be? I wonder what would happen if I went into my local power company and told them to put all my future bills onto my deficit? Perhaps the question should be how many speeding tickets would the power company incur blazing a trail of fire from their address to mine to turn off my power? Something tells me, that would be the fastest response time ever for the power company... So, if we Americans can't spend our way out of debt, why should the federal government be allowed to on our backs and money? Why should we be forced into debt because our narcissistic, whinny elected officials decided they didn't give a damned about us as long as they get what they wanted? Obama keeps preaching about spreading the wealth... yet I haven't seen Congress make any attempt to spread their own wealth, after all, they can afford it. We can not. They have made no attempts in reducing their elaborate spending, giving up their tax payer funded unlimited credit cards, or reducing the heat in their offices a few degrees to conserve a little.. Yet they expect us to... They can't even pay their taxes... Yet Biden has said that paying taxes is patriotic. If its so patriotic, why then haven't they paid them? Instead, WE get excuses from them while they get exemptions from the highway robbery the Internal Revenue Service inflicts upon us if we don't. Something is wrong here... maybe its time WE use one of our rights and hold a Recall Election, especially since they expect us to continue supporting their wasteful and greedy spending addiction... Holy bat crap, Batman, Congress strikes again! Those dastardly feinds! Top tags: half, power, spending, company, ago, americans, better, budget, congress, crises Comments from Chris Ronk 66.93.66.228 Government is only a part of the problem. Corporate greed and personal debt (when I say personal debt, I am taking about 90% of our population) are also major contributors to this mess. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin I agree upto the point that no person in the U.S. could ever spend as much money that our elected officials did in one fell swoop of the pen, thus compounding the mess to levels incomparable to any personal debt. Comments from Gena 74.194.224.218 You're nailing it. Government greed will be the downfall of our country. The people need to make a stand and let government know that this is not acceptable. I hope on those who voted for Obama are happy with their choice. He was elected because he can speak in a passionate manner without saying a word. People were caught up in his speaking not in his words. He didn't "say" anything. I, for one, am fed up. You can't use debt to get out of debt and I'm tired of covering their rears. If it were us, it would be a "you made your bed, now sleep in it". I say, let them pay for their debts and leave us alone. We manage money a lot better than they do and it's our money. We're not stealing it from our neighbors or getting bailed out for being stupid. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin Agreed whole heatitly. I know one way to bring this mess to a sharp and hard stop --- term limits for both the Congress and the Senate. No more the eight years for both of them.
