Who Determine When Life Exists Or Lives Or Dies?

by Rev. Dr. Leslie Mary Trombly

This sermon is not about politics versus religion, it is about Man versus God in the right to life and who determine it. Like it or not you are going to hear the facts and in the end it will determine your eternal outcome.

For years there has been an ongoing controversy concerning abortion. All the pros and cons of it have been battled with in the judicial system. Now with this new president this argument may be settled in favor of abortion without limitations. This is outright murder and he is a heretic! A true Christian would never allow such a thing to happen, much less condone it or back it up and financially support it with Government taxes. In the courts they have had Row vs. Wade [1973] in which that the U.S. Constitution "guarantees a right of privacy that includes a woman's right to have an abortion during the first thirteen weeks of pregnancy, and later to safeguard the woman's life or health." Before I get into the "meat of this sermon, I want to give you a little history on the "Planned parenthood/abortion" issue and where it all began with a law passed in 1873, known as "The Comstock Law"; which was part of a campaign for legislating public morality in the United States. It was meant to stop trade in "obscene literature" and "immoral articles." In reality, this law was targeted not only at obscenity and "dirty books" but at birth control devices and information on such devices, at abortion, and at information on sexuality and on sexually transmitted diseases. It was widely used to prosecute those who distributed information or devices for birth control. In 1938, in a case involving Margaret Sanger, Judge August Hand lifted the federal ban on birth control, effectively ending use of the Comstock Law to target birth control information and devices.

Since then it has been manipulated and there have been other decisions on abortion as far back 1912, with Margaret Sanger, when she gave up nursing work to dedicate herself to the distribution of birth control information. She wrote articles on health for the Socialist Party paper, the "Call", and collected and published articles as "What Every Girl Should Know" (1916) and "What Every Mother Should Know (1917)".

In 1913 she went to Europe, founding a paper, "Woman Rebel", on her return. She was indicted for "mailing obscenities," fled to Europe, and the indictment was withdrawn. In 1914 she founded the National Birth Control League which was taken over by Mary Ware Dennett and others while Sanger was in Europe.

In 1916 (1917 according to some sources), Sanger set up the first birth control clinic in the United States, and the following year, she was sent to the workhouse for "creating a public nuisance." Her many arrests and prosecutions, and the resulting outcries, helped lead to changes in laws giving doctors the right to give birth control advice (and later, birth control devices) to patients.

In 1927 Sanger helped organize the first World Population Conference in Geneva. In 1942, after several organizational mergers and name changes, Planned Parenthood Federation came into being. She was involved with others in taking the lives of "imperfect babies" albeit physically or mentally. This was done with or without the consent of the parents. The consent of the parents of the child came only after the parents have been pressured to the point where they felt they had no choice.

After that then the downward spiral from Christian Morality concerning life began its journey. In 1965 we had "Griswold v. Connecticut', then 1973: 'Roe v. Wade' followed by 'Bellotti v. Baird' [1979], "Planned Parenthood v. Ashcroft'[1983]; 'Thornburgh v. American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists' [1986] 'Webster v. Reproductive Health Services' [1989], 'Planned Parenthood v. Casey' [1992] and Doe vs. Bolton [2008]

In all of this the real judge in this has been omitted from it all. He is the judge who should be the judge in all these cases and this world wouldn't be in the moral depravity its in concerning "who has a right to live and who doesn't" when they are in the womb. Who should the rightful judge be? GOD, HIMSELF! HE IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS AND HE'S THE ONE WHO SHOULD DETERMINE LIFE AND DEATH, not us nor some judge who has no clue as to what the Word of God has to say about it. It shouldn't be placed in the hands of men or women who do not want the responsibility of a child because they created a child out of wedlock or that child is "imperfect".

Has anyone ever considered what God has to say about what is or is not in the womb? NO! Human selfishness and adultery has lead to murder of an innocent life and with little or no conscious about it. We are going to take a look at God's side of it and at what His word says about it as well.

I. What God and His Word has to say about life in the womb and the consequences of killing:

A. From The Old Testament:

1) "Thou shalt not kill." [Exodus 20:13]

2) "If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine." [Exodus 21:22]

3) "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live;" [Deuteronomy 30:19]

4) "In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind" [Job 12:10]

5) "Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb." [Job 31:15]

6) "But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly." [Psalms 22:9-10 - David]

7) "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me." [Psalms 51:5]

8) "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." [Psalms 127:3]

9) "For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth." [Psalms 139:13-15]

10) "Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses." [Isaiah 44:2-4]

11) "Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. 2And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; 3And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. 4Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God. (5)And now, saith the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength" [Isaiah 49: 1-2,5]

12) "Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 5Before I forme by adultery and making a mockery of something that was meant to be between a man and his wife. Now I have a question for you and I wonder if you can actually answer it. The question is this: How does a baby get breath in the womb? Without breathe, that child's heart would not beat and it wouldn't be able to move so you know that there is life within you. Give up? The answer is simple. Just as God breathed into the nostrils of Adam, so does he breathe breath into a child in the womb. We do not have the ability to do this from outside the womb. A child is alive, whether you thinks so or not from the moment of it's conception. That little "pollywog" that connects with the egg of a woman begins the process and life begins to take shape and develop. Even when it can't be seen that child, is a living breathing human being right from the beginning. He or she is living and breathing. God gave that child life and breath at the moment it was conceived, whether man wants to acknowledge that or not. God is the one who has the final say on who lives or dies. Not man and certainly for man to presume that he does, especially when it comes to an innocent child in the womb, they have over stepped their bounds by God's standards. When I say man it isn't just referring to the male population, it is women too who do things to cause themselves to have an unwanted pregnancy or the victim of a rape or the couple that do not want children. The couple could have found other means to prevent this. The single male and female should remain celibate until the right mate that is given to them by God and becomes their spouse.

Taking the life of an innocent child in the womb is pure, unadulterated murder and there is no escape from judgment for it. For those who didn't think of it that way. I hope you do. For those who have already committed this crime against a child and God, then seek God's forgiveness and pardon. I know that someone is going to say how dare you judge me when you have never from the liars and deceivers about who has the right to determine who lives and who died, especially that of a child within the womb. It is God and God alone who has this right since he created life and he created us. God has been patient and merciful to us inspite of our depravity, our moral decline and our persistence in taking an innocent life. Why? Because he still wants his children to spend eternity with him. Yet in the end after all our chances for redemption have run out, and his patience has run out the final judgment will come and all those who persisted in their sin and the killing of the innocent, will find themselves paying a hefty price for all eternity for it. I pray that you will not be one of them.
