Obama: Not the first black president by Mar Matthias Darin Barack Obama is not the first black president this country has had and no amount of whining from desperate liberals is ever going to change that. As such, Obama does not represent change, this is not a new era in politics, and he is not the messiah. And people wonder why the rest of the world thinks that United States citizen are illiterate and ignorant. Well, it because we are. There is not denying this nation's illiteracy when well known and influential people do not even know this country's rich and diverse history. Obama will actually be the sixth black president. Hillary Clinton would have indeed represented the first woman president had she been elected. So why does the liberal media continue to lie about this? Because if they don't, all the hype, lies, racism, sexism, and illiteracy would have to be owned up to and Obama's presidency would be shown for what it really is, a fruad upon which the liberals have lied, cheated, and stolen their way into the White House.
There are several sources that have discussed the notion of the "first
Black President" of the United States. These sources range from the
ridiculous to the interesting. Toni Morrison, for example, called Bill
Clinton "the first black president" in her October 1998 New Yorker
article. Her condescending characterization is that while Clinton is
White, culturally, he "displays almost every trope of blackness:
single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone playing,
McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas." There is also the
story of John Hanson, a "Black" man, a Moor, who is said to have been
the "first President of the United States from 1781 to 1782 under the
Articles of Confederation," making George Washington the first President
under the United States Constitution.
Another rendering is the one using C. Stone Brown's article titled "Who were the 5 Black Presidents" that appeared in a February 2004 edition of Diversity Inc magazine, ophthalmologist Leroy Brown's book titled Black People and Their Place in History, J.A. Roger's book titled Five Black Presidents and William Herndon's book titled The Hidden Lincoln. These sources together yield six American Presidents believed to have had "Black blood": Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, and Dwight David Eisenhower. These sources, however, do not offer compelling empirical evidence to support their claims. A more empirically grounded source is the article titled "Harding was first 'black president'" that appeared in the Baltimore Sun on October 7, 1998 (p.2A) written by Theo Lippman. I now present you with the five previous black presidents of the United States, researched by historian Leroy Vaughn, author of Black People and Their Place in World History (Eisenhower is omitted here because I could not find any information confirming his black history): Thomas Jefferson, who served two terms between 1801 and 1809, was described as the "son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father," as stated in Vaughn's findings. Jefferson also was said to have destroyed all documentation attached to his mother, even going to extremes to seize letters written by his mother to other people. White House biography on Thomas Jefferson Andrew Jackson, the nation's seventh president, was in office between 1829 and 1837. Vaughn cites an article written in The Virginia Magazine of History that Jackson was the son of an Irish woman who married a black man. The magazine also stated that Jackson's oldest brother had been sold as a slave. White House biography on Andrew Jackson Abraham Lincoln, the nation's 16th president, served between 1861 and 1865. Lincoln was said to have been the illegitimate son of an African man, according to Leroy's findings. Lincoln had very dark skin and coarse hair and his mother allegedly came from an Ethiopian tribe. His heritage fueled so much controversy that Lincoln was nicknamed "Abraham Africanus the First" by his opponents. White House biography on Abraham Lincoln Warren Harding, the 29th president, in office between 1921 and 1923, apparently never denied his ancestry. According to Vaughn, William Chancellor, a professor of economics and politics at Wooster College in Ohio, wrote a book on the Harding family genealogy. Evidently, Harding had black ancestors between both sets of parents. Chancellor also said that Harding attended Iberia College, a school founded to educate fugitive slaves. White House biography on Warren Harding Calvin Coolidge, the nation's 30th president, served between 1923 and 1929 and supposedly was proud of his heritage. He claimed his mother was dark because of mixed Indian ancestry. Coolidge's mother's maiden name was "Moor" and in Europe the name "Moor" was given to all blacks just as "Negro" was used in America. It later was concluded that Coolidge was part black. White House biography on Calvin Coolidge With the liberals making every attempt they can to portray Obama as the first black president, they are undermining the rich and diverse history blacks have contributed to this nation. It would be far better to portray Obama for what he is, the sixth black president, and draw from the many important milestones set forth by his predecessors. Each of the five black president are, and will continue to be, heros recorded in history for their accomplishments and achievements. Because of the liberal mud machine, Obama will never truly be able to claim the great history the previous five black presidents have to offer. Instead, the liberals would rather deny the black citizens of this nation the history that is rightly theirs and something to be truly proud of. It severely ticks me off when I see a group of people manipulated and exploited for political gain. Comments from Sherrie 98.164.154.12 Wow...that's interesting stuff. Never heard these facts, so you've got me thinking! Comments from Tom Usher 63.226.218.137 I stand against racism and ethnic bigotry. Race and ethnicity are irrelevant. Spirit and deeds to match are what signify. God bless everyone. Comments from Paul - Political Conservatives 99.26.193.34 People easily forget Obama is half white, because he LOOKS black/brown. In 7th grade biology, we studied why this happens, using rabbits as our model. Martin Luther King, Jr. said he dreamed of a day where America would look past the color of skin. And now everyone, especially the media, wants to emphasize it because of The One. Anyway, I really do not understand the Obama worship. I watched Obama's recent short speech in Baltimore, and the television camera's scanned the crowd, and there were people CRYING. And it was a short, do-nothing, generic speech, with Obama going through the motions on his way to Washing D.C. on a train, ala Lincoln. Once I reached adulthood, I stopped placing imperfect human beings on a pedestal. Comments from Bill 97.117.196.96 Okay, whatever. Then let's say he's the first intelligent president we've had in the past 8 years. Nobody can argue that. Comments from Johnny 65.95.116.242 This is why i'm republican. I feel I can't trust the Liberals. Comments from Rahsheen 67.191.197.118 Interesting, but delusional. Posts like THIS are the reason other countries think Americans are crazy. No one can doubt that Obama is black. Not only is it a fact that he is half black, but he also looks the part. That is what makes him the first black president. Even if what you say about these other presidents is true, none of them were black enough for anyone to care. A few drops of black blood are easily concealed. Nevermind that his race has nothing to do with the fact that he is the most intelligent person to hold this office in quite some time. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin No one is doubting the Obama is black, he is just not the first black president. There are those that embrace their history and those that try to change it to suite their contorted purpose. Try joining the first group, you'd be amazed at what history has to reveal. Besides, are you so narrow minded as to think that this country hasn't had a black president before? How black does someone have to be for you to consider them black? That, in and of itself, sounds racist. Intelligence is a factor of hind sight. In four years, we will be able to accurately judge how intelligent Obama is. in twenty to thirty years when all the secret conversations are declassified, we will learn his true character, just like any other president. Comments from JB 63.82.98.50 I have been screaming this for months now and I am so confused why the liberals feel a need to lie. This article hits the nail on the head and I think you for that. The ONLY reason Obama is in office is because he is black. The media has to drive the point he is black because Obama has done nothing in his career worth talking about. It is also a shame that the accomplishments by the other presidents and especially the ones that were black will go un-noticed because of the rotten bill of goods the American public has purchased from the media. Bill, What makes you question the intelligence of Bush? Do you really think you have all the information to make a statement like that? Out of one face the liberals call Bush the village idiot and the other face says he masterminded the whole 9-11 attack. You can't make up you mind. I can actually argue that Bush is more intelligent than Obama and in a very sort period of time will prove that point. Rahsheen, So where are these color photographs that you have seen in order to determine the color of the other 5 black presidents? Why is it so important for Obama to be the first black president for you? Isn't sixth good enough? Again with the intelligence. What is it that Obama has done to make you think he is so intelligent. He has done nothing as a senator to show any intelligence at all. He has authored not one thing. He attached his name to a bill or two because people were starting to question what he was doing. The fact that you are not familiar with the history of this once great nation is why other countries think Americans are crazy. They know more about our history than you do. You bought what the media sold you hook line and sinker. Look what Obama has done in a few short weeks. He is giving money to planned parenthood organization that are not in this country. He is giving more power to the unions, he added 180 days for a woman to find out she is paid less that the male in the same position. He has appointed people to office that have not paid taxes in a great while. These are his priorities in these times? He in not qualified to be president of the PTA let alone the USA. Not because he is black but because he IS NOT QUALIFIED. Comments from Mar Matthias Darin You're welcome and you're not alone. Comments from Jimmy Smith 62.120.173.5 Lincoln's mother from an Ethiopian tribe? Did not know there were Ethiopians in the US at that time. Just about all slaves were from West Africa, not East Africa. I think the above descriptions of Black Presidents are wild exaggerations, hoaxes and distortions of facts. Comments from leftout 216.31.232.90 it is important because none of the others were out in the open they had to hide the truth this gives our pepole someone in the "white his-story-books" this has been a long time comming god bless us all because we are one pepole not black not white but United States citizen all one and the same Comments from sandy 65.185.50.125 I always laugh when I read your articles, and shake my head. Our political thoughts couldn't be further apart, but your posts are entertaining. Having grown up in Marion, Ohio I'm well acquainted with President Warren G. Harding. In fact recently made a post about his Memorial. You should pop over for a look see. I don't buy the theory that life and all things can be so easily separated into two categories of liberal or conservative. I also think it's irresponsible and narrow minded and easy for people to say they are one or the other and follow.... blindly in some cases that parties path. The path changes from time to time, the people within those parties sometimes don't realize they're lost and should belong to the other party. I don't vote a strict party ticket and wish others didn't. There are good and bad politicians in both parties. I did vote for and support Obama, but not because some claim he's the first black President. He is as much white as black to my way of thinking and so the statement simply doesn't make sense to me. On top of which whether white or black or purple is of no importance to me. Sandy
