Doom-sayers' Prophecy

Woe onto the peoples of the land, for the doom-sayers have prophesied a great turmoil unlike any seen in nearly a hundred years. The doom-sayers have come forth from their high places and cry, "Woe unto the nation! The mighty have fallen! Fanny and Freddie have been smitten by greed and now thou must pay! Give us fifty years of your labor's blood and 700 billion so we may make this problem vanish! It matters not that it was our own that causeth this heartache! It is you who will suffer because the doom-sayers have proclaimed it!"

The peoples of the land, hearing of the turmoil of Fanny and Freddie, shout back to the doom-sayers saying unto them, "NO! Go back to your high places and suffer you own plight!" Woe unto thee, for the doom-sayers were vengeful and spiteful for their plans of greed were undermined.

And thus the doom-sayers spake amongst themselves, saying "Woe unto the peoples of this land! We will have our way, even if we must create the way from our own devices!" And so the doom-sayers went forth again unto the people telling them, "Your 50 years of blood and 700 billion are needed to keep your lifely goods protected! Give us these things NOW or we can do nothing to fight off the plagues of fore-closures, lost jobs, no payroll, and economic cataclysm."

Yet again, the people sayeth, "NO!" The doom-sayers, seeing that their vile devices have yet again failed to sway the peoples, set forth their plans to create the economic cataclysm they so prophesied.... They begin whipping their calculators into a frenzy! Prices rise and prices fall. The great masses, that are well to do mind you, run to and fro screaming of the great disasters that have befallen them, begging the doom-sayers to make it end. The peoples of the land seeing this, saying unto the doom-sayers, "Your villainy will have no say here! You have fleeced us far to often! Go back to your own kind and suffer unto yourselves!" The resolve of the peoples remained strong.
